Must Have Features of a Camping iPhone App
Attention gadget geeks that like to go camping we have a list for you! We know that there are a miriad of camping iphone apps out there on the app store and that is great thing. MyCampMate have been through a ton of them and seen almost all. Some are great and a must have, some just leave you hanging. We have found apps that are so feature heavy that it feels like it will fall apart in your hand, and some that do maybe only a half of 1 function!
All that aside, having a gadget like the iphone to take with you on your camping trips we feel is a must. There are so many resourceful uses for them weather you have service or not!
So we did a tally and came up with 5 features that we feel a camping iphone app should have. These are in no particular order, or are they listed from best to worst or most important to least.
1. Google maps. Got to have that. Need to know where you are, how you got there, and if you are lost or want to find something. How are you going to get it. if I want to find local info we really want to know how to get there?
2. GPS. You would think that this is a no brainer but you would be surprised! We like to be able to hit a button and have the device find me. Makes searching on the map for stuff a lot esier.
3. Connectivity and integration of the phones other applications. If we find something on the map and there is a number to call. As we are doing our camping trip planning and need to call someone, we dont want to have to write the number down, close the app and go use the phone. We want to just call. Same with email. Let us do it right there in the App?!
4. EASY! Hey, were gadget guys so dont get us wrong, we like to fiddle and tinker but make the app easy. You got to figure that were using it out on the road, on the fly or remote. Help us out and make it easy!
5. Sharable. There are very few people who like to travel alone. If your one of them, you probably dont have an iphone! Your usually with firends right? Well let us share your app, connect and be able to use it in a group. Thats what camping is about right?
